Come to a free informational session on Sunday, February 26th at 3pm at Squeaky Wheel. Watch samples of past students' documentary films, listen to the experiences of recent program graduates and learn what it takes to successfully apply to the program.
The Buffalo Youth Media Institute is a community history and youth media program targeting the diverse population of young people living in Buffalo and surrounding areas. Students are selected through a competitive application process. Combining media production, media literacy, and cultural studies in an intense 7 week curriculum, our youth producers work with professional filmmakers and members of the community to create their own self-directed documentaries about Buffalo. Each year the Buffalo Youth Media Institute chooses a theme that allows students to explore local history, culture and social issues. This year's theme will be Downtown Renaissance; students will select a topic rooted in the sociocultural development of Buffalo's Downtown.
The Buffalo Youth Media Institute is a collaboration with Buffalo Tours and Squeaky Wheel and has been supported in part by the Marks Family Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts.
