BILL SACK is a composer and performer based in Buffalo, NY. In addition to playing oboe and electric guitar with the Open Music Ensemble, he plays in a total improvisation duo with multi-instrumentalist Todd Whitman and in the improvising rock band, Bird with Strings. Current musical projects include a robotic shadow puppet opera based on the story of Diana and Actaeon. Interests include mechanical models of music-making, automated composition, gadgets and gizmos, extremes of recorded information, and non-idiomatic free improvisation. He is currently employed as the Technical Director at Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center.
