WE ARE THE CITY: VOICES FROM THE WEST SIDE [by Jam Vafai & West Side Community Collaborative] is a portrait of Buffalo’s West Side, its diverse residents, and some of the grassroots neighborhood revitalization initiatives implemented by the West Side Community Collaborative, the Preservation Coalition and others.
 
West Side Community Collaborative is a partnership of over 35 organizations, institutions, block clubs, businesses, and individuals committed to working together for effective solutions to crime and safety, economic development, housing, youth and communication issues on Buffalo’s West Side.
 
Jam Vafai has initiated hundreds of students into the craft of filmmaking as the Communication Arts teacher at the Academy of Visual and Performing Arts. In his own works he often documents Buffalo’s architectural landscape.
